Manchester United fans have welcomed a perceived early hint from the agent of club target Jurrien Timber.
The centre-half has been touted to join Erik ten Hag on the move over to England for a number of weeks. The 20-year-old has caught the eye of several top European clubs as he helped Ajax to the Eredivisie title with his incredible 21 league clean sheets.

On Friday, a social media post from Forza Sports Group – the agency which represents Timber – sent United fans into a frenzy. The Instagram story said ‘Deal closing time…’ along with a photo of an airport, leading some to theorise that the player could be on his way to Old Trafford this summer.
A number of fans already started to give their welcomes to Timber, despite no official announcement being made by any party. Some of them took to Twitter air their excitement.
The Manchester Evening News understands ten Hag is scouting for a centre-back, a defensive midfielder and a striker this summer. Securing Timber would tick one of those boxes, and United are in pole position to land him given their new manager’s connections.
Jurrien Timber’s agency have dropped a transfer hint amid interest from Manchester United in their player.
Change is on the horizon at Old Trafford after newly-appointed manager Erik ten Hag flew in to London and he will immediately set about a much-needed rebuild. Manchester Evening News understands a centre-back, defensive midfielder and versatile attacker are all on the radar.
Ten Hag won three Eredivisie titles in four years at Ajax and, due to his immense success there, has been backed to come calling for his now former players. Among the in-demand players are Netherlands defender Timber, Brazilian winger Antony and Argentine centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
Timber, 20, has been long-since tipped for a move to one of the marquee divisions in Europe and – under Ten Hag – he played 43 games in all competitions this season. United have revived interest in Spanish defender Pau Torres after splashing out £34million on Raphael Varane last summer.
Speaking about Timber shortly after clinching another Eredivisie title, Ten Hag told De Telegraaf : “I think that all top clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights, but I think that currently applies to a lot of Ajax players.”
